One of these efforts was managing an intramural pilot program to advance cell therapy based projects forward towards first-in-human-clinical trials envisioned to be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center. He also organized the Bio-Trac / NIH CRM Stem Cell Industry Symposium (consisting of 20 presenting companies and ~100 participants) and NIH CRM / SCIG Stem Cell Research Symposium consisting of over 150 intramural investigators. With these accomplishments and others, Dr. Hunsberger assisted with strengthening the intramural regenerative medicine community by establishing infrastructure, collaborations, resources, and training.

Dr. Hunsberger was awarded the NARSAD Young Investigator Award, the Julius Axelrod Post Doctoral Fellowship Award, the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) and the George H.
